Right speech

Based on the precepts of the Buddhist notion of "Right Speech", I am attempting to refrain from written or spoken word that is untrue, unnecessary, or unkind.

To hold myself accountable, I'm recording today's infractions.

Untrue:

Unnecessary:

  • Partook in gossip about a coworker who we feel isn't doing as much work as we do, and makes more money than any of us

Unkind:
  • Implied that a colleague is incompetent (She is. And my saying so was an explanation of why I wasn't relying on her "expertise" - this is still unkind, but could it have been avoided?)
  • Suggested that a coworker kick another coworker in the face (Needlessly harsh)
